DOBOT INTRODUCTION

DOBOT is a small robotic arm is used mostly for educational and protoyping purposes due to its limitations but can be used to automate placements and movements of things as well as 3d print.

PROGRAMMING THE DOBOT

The programme used to control the robots is "DobotStudio" We experimented using mostly Tracking and playback and blockly, indicated with red dots below.

LOCATION AND ROTATION SETTINGS

When programming of DOBOT with Blockly or teaching and playback, we can press the override button above the arm and move it to the desired location. This automatically updates the values in the X,Y,Z,R in the sidebar. The manual override button can be also used when the robot has an error or is about to hit an obstacle.

EXPERIMENTATION

My group carried our several experiments with DOBOT studio to test different scenarios that might happen in the construction industry such as stacking, placing and grabbing.

STACKING

Using Teaching and playback, the dobot is programmed to place a block on another block.

PLACING

Using Teaching and playback, the DOBOT is programmed to place 2 items in different rotation and locations into a small box

APPLICATION IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY

The placing and moving of items could be really useful in the construction industry. The page linked in the button below gives some examples.
